Groundbreaking New Book: THE TOXIN SOLUTION

toxin-solutionTHE TOXIN SOLUTION: How Hidden Poisons in the Air, Water, Food, and Products We Use Are Destroying Our Health—AND WHAT WE CAN DO TO FIX IT

Chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer, type II diabetes, obesity, dementia, and arthritis are the leading causes of death and disability in the United States. Not only are these conditions common, but they are costly and often preventable health problems. Despite advances in modern medicine and technology, today more than ever, people are suffering from chronic illnesses through all stages of life.

I have been involved in medicine now for almost half a century as a researcher, student, clinician, teacher, lecturer, author and advocate at the local, state and federal levels. Over this time, I have taught tens of thousands of students and doctors, authored or co-authored 11 books, written over 100 articles in scientific journals and cared for tens of thousands of patients either directly or indirectly through sophisticated corporate wellness programs that I designed and helped implement. Resolution Series: Hair Analysis to Determine Toxin Levels

hair-analysisHair analysis is an excellent, non-invasive way to test for tissue levels of heavy metals and minerals. It can provide important information regarding recent and ongoing exposure to potentially toxic metals, such as mercury and arsenic. As protein is synthesized in the hair follicles, elements are incorporated permanently into the hair. Scalp hair is easy to sample, and because it grows an average of one to two centimeters per month, it contains a “temporal record” of element metabolism and exposure to toxic elements. The levels of elements in hair correlate with levels in organs and other tissues. Hair analysis testing is now available directly through Village Green. Reduce Your Toxic Load

water-filterA toxic substance is any compound that has an unhealthy effect on cellular structure or function. We encounter toxic chemicals on a daily basis, often without even knowing it. Exposure may come from the food we eat, the water we drink, the clothes we wear, or how we clean our homes and care for our yards. Toxins are everywhere. Even our own bodies produce toxic substances that need disposal. It is important to become aware of common toxins in your environment, take steps to limit exposure, and to increase your body’s natural defenses.

Examples of common toxins include mercury from silver fillings, chemicals used to make non-stick cookware, Continue reading “Reduce Your Toxic Load”

These ingredients can linger on just cleaned surfaces and are easily absorbed by human tissues, exposing us and our children to hazardous chemicals with unhealthy side effects. For more information on what’s in your cupboard, check out the Environemental Working Group’s Guide to Healthy Cleaning.

Although there are some fantastic safe products  available to purchase, there are also plenty of tried and true items sitting in your pantry right now that can clean your house from top to bottom without any harmful effects. Green Living Can Also Be Good For Your Health: Three Tips for Being Green and Healthy

Green living is being embraced by increasing numbers of people. Saving energy at home, using less gasoline, conserving fresh water and recycling paper, plastic and glass products all contribute to a greener lifestyle and a lower carbon footprint.

But there is another reason for going green: green living is also healthy.

Here are three tips for living a green and healthy lifestyle.

1. Start an organic garden at home. In addition to some exercise, gardening offers health benefits by allowing you to make sure that your homegrown fruit and vegetables are chemical and toxin free. And by growing some of your food at home, you reduce pollution and save fuel by not having that food shipped to you from across the country, or even from half way around the world. You also avoid the expense and pollution resulting from driving your car to a local store to buy it.
