Aside from a multivitamin and an essential fatty acid (which almost everyone should take), there are a few more nutrients that are critical, especially for women. Many of these can be achieved through a healthy diet, but sometimes even that is not enough.

Here are some supplements that you might consider.

Iron
Iron deficiency can be very common in women of childbearing age, leading to fatigue. A simple supplemental iron can help to boost energy levels in women with low iron levels. You can ask your health care practitioner if you’d like to get your iron tested. If you decide to take supplemental iron, check for one that has vitamin C to help boost absorption.  Continue reading “4 Supplements for Women’s Health”

Naturopathic Medicine: Support Pending Licensure in Maryland

Naturopathic medicine is an extremely important option for people who want to improve their health by getting to the root cause of their symptoms or the disease. It is also an important option for those who have not had success with conventional medicine. And, it is an important option for people who want to prevent illness to begin with.

At Village Green, we are strong proponents of Naturopathic medicine and believe this approach is critical to improving the health of people, and the health of our healthcare system. Naturopathic medicine is – we hope – on the verge of becoming licensed in our home state of Maryland, as it is already in a number of other states and the District of Columbia. Please read this excellent letter from one of our naturopaths-in-residence, Dr. Kevin Passero, who is also a Past President of the Maryland Association of Naturopathic Physicians. We fully support Dr. Kevin and his efforts toward this legislation, and hope many of you will feel the same. And… stay tuned for updates!  Continue reading “Naturopathic Medicine: Support Pending Licensure in Maryland”
