Meet Amanda Buxbaum, Licensed Nutritionist at Village Green

Amanda-3-webAt Village Green Apothecary, we are proud of our extremely knowledgeable and thoughtful staff.   We encourage you to come into the store to meet everyone. One of our talented nutrition experts is Amanda Buxbaum. She is a Licensed Nutritionist with a Masters Degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport, with a special interest in fitness, weight loss and wellness. Amanda’s approach is gentle and patient-centered with the goal of maximizing joy and self-direction as central to the goal of healing and health. Her background as an actuarial analyst gives her the analytical edge when studying the current health research and problem-solving with patients. Amanda is also a Certified Nutrition Specialist and is in her fifth year of teaching nutrition at Montgomery College.

Amanda has worked with nutrition clients on issues from IBS and other gastrointestinal issues, to a variety of cancers, and a host of neurological issues such as ADD, depression, anxiety, bipolar, schizophrenia, MS, ALS, and Alzheimer’s, as well as many other health issues. If you are interested in seeing Amanda for a nutritional consult, click here.

Amanda is also the point person at Village Green for SpectraCell testing. One of the tests offered through SpectraCell is a nutrient analysis, where a simple blood test measures levels of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and other essential micronutrients in your white blood cells (lymphocytes). This analysis measures blood nutrient levels over a 4-6 month period (rather than a snapshot of nutrient intake). Did you know that the Journal of the American Medical Association connects nutrient deficiencies to disease processes? Village Green offers free blood draws on Fridays and discounted testing rates. To learn more about the various tests offered by Spectracell, email Amanda or call her 1-800-869-9159, ext. 1019.
