Favorite Things: Pathway Kids’ Cough

Both my kids have started the winter season with a hacking cough that keeps them (and me) awake at night. Traditional cough medications for children under 6 have been shown to be ineffective and sometimes harmful. So after two sleepless nights, I started giving them Pathway Kids’ Cough.

Pathway Kids’ Cough soothes the throat and helps to support the respiratory system. It is a great alternative to over-the-counter cough syrups that contain dyes, sugars and alcohol. This great-tasting formula acts as an expectorant as well as having antibacterial and antiviral properties. It contains wild cherry bark, osha root, and yerba santa, which encourage the loosening of phlegm from the respiratory tract. There is also an easy-to-dose guide based on weight.

Both children are now cough-free and sleeping better at night. I also used tea tree oil and eucalyptus oil in their baths , 1000IU of Vitamin D3, and lots of fluids in combination with Pathway Kid’s Cough.

5 Natural Solutions for Dry Skin

Redness, flaking, and cracking of the skin can be common during the winter months when temperatures outside are so cold and the indoor air so dry. Here are some tips to help soothe, heal, and moisturize your ailing skin.

1) Eat foods rich in healthy fats – foods such as salmon, avocado, walnuts, flax seed, coconut, and olive oil provide nourishing oils to help moisturize your skin from the inside out. Research has also shown that healthy fats, particularly omega-3 fatty acids, can help fight wrinkle formation and photodamage, as well as provide support for skin conditions such as acne, psoriasis, and eczema.

2) Increase your water intake – drinking plenty of water and eating foods containing a high water content (fruits and vegetables, such as apples, plums, blueberries, melons, eggplant, cucumber, tomatoes, celery, etc.) can help to moisturize skin. Soups and herbal teas count too! Water plays many important roles in the body such as providing detoxification support, carrying nutrients and oxygen to cells, regulating body temperature, lubricating joints, and moistening tissues. Favorite Things: Pathway Digase

There are many things to be thankful for this coming Thanksgiving, but one thing that I will definitely be grateful for is Pathway Digase. Why? Digase is a combination of enzymes that help break down food in order to make it easier to digest. Doesn’t that sound good especially after a BIG Thanksgiving meal? I take a couple right before I start to eat and sometimes I even take two more afterwards if I have seconds of pumpkin pie. (And who are we kidding, of course I have seconds.)

You don’t have to wait for big holiday meals to reap the benefits of digestive enzymes. Taking one before each meal can help the digestive process. Some people find that their stomach becomes a little upset after eating foods like beans or broccoli. Pathway Digase may help ease some of that discomfort.

So before you dig into your second helping of sweet potatoes with marshmallow topping (who ever thought of that?), sit back and take two Pathway Digase tablets for a more comfortable Thanksgiving meal.

And here is one more thing to be thankful for – Pathway Digase is 35% off right now!

Pathway Liver Support and Detox

The holidays are around the corner, which means parties, which also means alcohol, rich and fatty foods and basically…overindulgence. The liver can definitely take a beating during this time. Consider providing this vital organ a bit of support with Pathway Liver Support and Detox. This comprehensive liver support formula contains NAC, milk thistle, curcumin and artichoke to help support healthy liver function as well as vitamin B12, folic acid and choline to aid in detoxification.

The liver is the body’s main organ of detoxification. Detoxification in the liver occurs in two phases, where the goal is to convert toxic substances into more water-soluble compounds in order to make them easier to excrete via the kidneys, bowels, and skin. Pathway Liver Support and Detox features a targeted group of nutraceuticals (nutrients & botanical extracts) that help provide the liver with important cofactors for normal, healthy detoxification. It also encourages healthy bile flow, which encourages healthy elimination.  Continue reading “Pathway Liver Support and Detox”

Favorite Things: Rescue Remedy

Oprah isn’t the only one who has favorite things. It may not involve giving away thousands of dollars worth of merchandise to our customers, but I thought our readers might be interested to know about some things that we especially love at Village Green Apothecary.

For me, this was tough because there are so many things that I use on a daily basis, or when I am under the weather, or when I need a boost, that it was hard to narrow it down to one. I may have to do a weekly blog about some of my other absolute faves.

Lately, my “go to” product, has been Bach Rescue Remedy, available in spray or drops. This little vial contains a combination of flower essences that eases my tension and soothes my worries. Just the thought of it calms me down. The great thing about Rescue Remedy is that it is so safe! It is taken when you are feeling anxious or tense. 4 drops on the tongue or in a little water can help ease your apprehension about public speaking, or flying on a plane. Now, if you have severe stage fright or you have to be dragged on to a plane, this is probably not for you. I like to think that it helps take the edge off…like what a drink may do for some.

I recommend this to people who have a hard time sleeping before any other supplement, because it is gentle and safe. If it works, then you have a non-habit forming remedy that can be used anytime. If it doesn’t work, we try something else. That’s really the only side effect!

If you would like to try it call us or stop by!
