Vision and Eye Health

Our eyes are complex sensory organs that contain up to 70% of all of the sensory receptors in the body. Eyes need to be continually nourished with the proper nutrients in order to stay healthy and protected against damage that light and other environmental factors can cause. Both free radical damage and decreased blood flow to the eyes are the main causes for degenerative eye conditions. Recent research has shown that taking antioxidants can slow or stop oxidative damage to the eyes.

Comprehensive Eye Formula

Pathway VISION FORMULA PLUS combines key nutrients and herbs to support healthy vision. Ingredients include Vitaberry® Plus, a trademarked blend of freeze-dried grape seed, wild blueberry, qild bilberry, cranberry, tart cherry, prune, raspberry seed, strawberry, resveratrol, and quercetin, all powerful antioxidants. Lutein and zeaxanthin (both from FloraGLOTM) have been studied for their beneficial role in the health of the macula of the eye. Additional nutrients such as selenium, zinc taurine, and alpha lipoic acid make this formula complete. Bioperine®, a black pepper extract, is added to enhance the absorption of these nutrients.

L-carnosine is a well-known neuropeptide found in the brain, nerve tissues, skeletal muscle tissue, and lens of the eye. As a powerful antioxidant, it has the ability to protect cells against the oxidative stress that is so common during the normal aging process. But, because your body’s natural L-carnosine stores decline with age, supplementing with this amino acid is believed to be especially important in promoting optimal support for your eyes, muscles, nerves, brain, and skin.

Lutein is an important antioxidant from the carotenoid family of nutrients. Lutein has shown to be beneficial in supporting ocular health, as studies have stated positive results in offering protection against age-related macular degeneration, as well as cataracts and even glaucoma. Our lutein is the trademarked FloraGlo®, which is the most studied source of lutein. We recommend Pathway LUTEIN.

Bilberry plays an important role as an antioxidant that supports eye health as well as vascular health. Pathway standardized BILBERRY EXTRACT PLUS is meticulously manufactured under strict European quality control standards without the use of harsh solvents. It is extracted to provide an optimal level of anthocyansosides in addition to the full spectrum of components as they occur naturally in fresh whole bilberries. Red grape skin extract and citrus bioflavonoids work synergistically to enhance the proven benefits of bilberry extract.
