Tips for a Green Holiday
Paula Gallagher on
With the holiday season upon us, it may be a good time to start thinking about what you can do to cut down on unnecessary waste and have a more eco-friendly time.
1. Wrap with what you have. Instead of buying wrapping paper, use what you have on hand to wrap gifts. You can use maps, old calendars, the cartoon section from a newspaper, craft paper. My sister-in-law took brown paper bags and had her children walk on them with painted feet and then wrapped gifts with the newly decorated paper.
2. Use natural décor: Pick up pine cones and branches on walks through parks or woods. These can be used to decorate your mantle, make centrepieces, or design your own wreath.
3. Instead of buying gifts for everyone, pick names. That way you only have to give one gift and can put the time and special thought in to making that one present special and personal.
What do you do to have a green holiday?
