Tips to Make Resolutions That Stick

resolutions aThe new year will be upon us once again, a time when many of us resolve to do better in the months to come. This can be a motivating time to make healthy lifestyle changes. And yet, New Year’s resolutions are plagued by a stigma of short-term success that often wanes before winter ends. When it comes to resolutions, why are we so shortsighted?

New Year’s Resolutions: To Make or Break?

new year

It’s 2017, the time when many New Year’s resolutions are being made – and many will also be broken. More than half of Americans make some sort of resolution and over 3/4 fail to keep them. I am in the 38% who do not make them and this year is no different. However, my son heard the word bounced around over the holidays and asked what it was about. This past year, I joined a women’s hockey team (then signed up for hockey lessons), my preciously shy daughter has started swimming lessons and is loving it, my son has added diving to his ever growing list of sports, and my husband has lost 70lbs eating right and exercising. Not one us of waited until December 31st. Continue reading “New Year’s Resolutions: To Make or Break?”

5 Mindful Eating Benefits

1.  Mindful eating causes you to be aware of how much you’re eating, which in turn, makes you more in tune with your body’s signals. This is important, because your body will tell you when to eat and when it’s had enough. Because you’re paying closer attention to what your body is “saying,” you’ll be less likely to overeat. You’ll eat according to your body’s needs instead of:

A certain event
The clock
