As strong believers in the importance of personalized healthcare, at Village Green we have been on a mission to provide our customers with a wide variety of tools to optimize health. One very valuable tool that we offer is specialty lab testing, which can give individuals valuable insights into their health. Functional lab tests can help to uncover system imbalances, connect the dots on various aspects of health, and help to tailor nutrient protocols.
In my nutrition practice, I have found lab testing to be extremely helpful in pinpointing important areas to focus on, and knowing which nutrients are needed most. Continue reading “SpectraCell Testing / New Blood Draw Hours”
Why do we get sick? Can we blame it on age? Is it because a co-worker or family member shared their germs? Maybe it’s because we are genetically at risk? Even if you aren’t a hockey fan (how could you not be?), you might still know that the Washington Capitals are at the top of their division and are leading the National Hockey League in points.
They have great players, coaching and development, but Coach Barry Trotz also sees the value of using sport-science as an advantage. When one player was feeling run down, he had a blood analysis done and made adjustments to his diet. When his performance improved based on the results from the blood work, all the Capitals players were asked to do the testing.
Along with a micronutrient test, which reveals vitamin and mineral deficiencies, hormone and adrenal testing where also done. Personalized recommendations were made for each player based on the results. The reasoning for the testing is that stabilized micronutrient and hormonal levels could help the Capitals players recover better after games during a lengthy season and potentially prevent injuries. One of the tests offered through SpectraCell is a nutrient analysis, where a simple blood test measures levels of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and other essential micronutrients in your white blood cells (lymphocytes). This analysis measures blood nutrient levels over a 4-6 month period (rather than a snapshot of nutrient intake). Did you know that the Journal of the American Medical Association connects nutrient deficiencies to disease processes? Village Green offers free blood draws on Fridays and discounted testing rates. To learn more about the various tests offered by Spectracell, email Amanda or call her 1-800-869-9159, ext. 1019.
