10 Strategies to Prevent Weight Gain While Eating Out

dining-outEating a healthy diet and then you get derailed when dining out?

Here are 10 simple strategies you can use when you’re going out for dinner, to help you prevent weight gain… starting before you even enter the restaurant.

2. Start by not being that hungry! 10 Cancer Fighting Foods

vegetables2When it comes to preventing and fighting cancer, anti-inflammatory foods are important. Adding nourishing foods full of healthy antioxidants is one of the easiest things you can do for yourself, if not the best. Change in Dietary Guidelines for 2015

eggs + spinachFor years, we were told to stay away from eggs, butter, shrimp… well anything that was high in fat and contained cholesterol, to protect heart health and prevent heart disease.

In the past, the U.S. dietary guidelines advised people to eat less than 300 milligrams (mg) per day of cholesterol, even though research had shown that cholesterol levels in food did not have much to do with cholesterol levels in your body.

Well things are about to change in the dietary guidelines for 2015!

The Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee (DGAC), a panel under the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is about to release their 2015 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, and they are recommending that limits on dietary cholesterol be removed. According to Cleveland Clinic cardiologist Dr. Steven Nissen, “It’s the right decision. We got the dietary guidelines wrong. They’ve been wrong for decades.” Continue reading “Change in Dietary Guidelines for 2015”

While spring cleaning can be a great way to get your home in shape, it’s also a great time to tune up your life to feel healthier, more energetic and happier. Here are seven areas that may need your attention after a long winter:

1. Your eating plan: Short days, holidays, vacations and travel over the last few months may have left you with winter weight gain, raging sugar cravings and some unhealthy eating habits that need to go. Skip “frankenfoods” that come from a factory for foods that come from the earth. Your body will respond by happily shedding those extra pounds while giving you tons of energy, better sleep, clarity, a greater ability to focus, fewer cravings and so much more.
