5 Ways to Reduce Your Toxin Load

clean-foodThere is something about spring that often makes people want to detox. Perhaps it’s the desire to reboot or recharge after a long, sluggish winter. While doing a detox can feel like a fresh start, we don’t need a particular time of year to help our bodies clear toxins. In fact, it is very important that we are detoxifying on a regular basis, and that we are continually making dietary and lifestyle choices that reduce our toxin load.

Sadly, toxins are everywhere and they cause cumulative damage. Every source of exposure adds up and can harm every aspect of our health. Continue reading “5 Ways to Reduce Your Toxin Load”

How to Detox Every Day

water-glassDetoxes, or cleanses, are recommended by many natural healthcare practitioners for a number of reasons, including weight loss, improving liver and kidney function, and cleansing the body. Usually they are done a few times a year. However, there are little things you can do to detox every day, in order to help your body run better.

Our bodies are constantly moving chemicals and wastes through our detoxification systems and eliminating toxins regularly. Unfortunately, in our modern-day lifestyle, there are often more toxins going in than our detox and elimination organs can keep up with. Continue reading “How to Detox Every Day”

Keep Your Kidneys Healthy

kidneyOften overlooked, the kidneys play a crucial role in detoxification. The work done by these bean-shaped organs allows us to kick out waste while balancing electrolyte and water levels. The kidneys also help regulate blood pressure, stimulate the production of red blood cells, and help to convert vitamin D to its active form. These tasks are accomplished by a collection of hormones that the kidneys also release, in addition to all the filtering they’re busy doing day and night.

The kidneys work hard to keep us in a delicate chemical balance, but they are vulnerable to disease under certain circumstances. Conditions that commonly affect the kidneys include infections, stones and kidney failure.

Kidney Infections

Most often, this is due to a urinary tract infection (UTI). When treated appropriately, UTIs may clear up without much consequence; however, if a UTI is not properly addressed, it can move upward from the bladder and eventually into the kidneys. Continue reading “Keep Your Kidneys Healthy”

Spring Cleaning…Your Body

Opening windows, seeding your lawn, and putting away winter coats are some of the things most of us do in our homes when the first signs of spring start popping up. But our homes aren’t the only things we should be looking at when it comes to spring cleaning.

A seasonal body cleanse can do wonders for our health. Cleansing or detoxifying can help the body rid itself of toxins that have built up in our systems over the months (or years).

A quality cleanse will enhance the body’s natural detoxification process, which includes the liver, kidneys, digestive system, lymphatics, and blood. If you have never done a cleanse before, the variety of options available today can be confusing and daunting. Here are two that I like.

For first-timers or people with very sensitive systems, I recommend a gentle cleanse like Renew Life First Cleanse. It is a combination of organic herbs that supports normal cleansing and organ detoxification functions and is designed for people who have never taken a total body cleansing supplement. It lasts 2 weeks and is simple and effective.

Pathway Ultra Cleansing System AM/PM offers a little more digestive cleansing action and is a 30-day cleanse. This is the one that I do twice a year. Continue reading “Spring Cleaning…Your Body”

Pathway Liver Support and Detox

The holidays are around the corner, which means parties, which also means alcohol, rich and fatty foods and basically…overindulgence. The liver can definitely take a beating during this time. Consider providing this vital organ a bit of support with Pathway Liver Support and Detox. This comprehensive liver support formula contains NAC, milk thistle, curcumin and artichoke to help support healthy liver function as well as vitamin B12, folic acid and choline to aid in detoxification.

The liver is the body’s main organ of detoxification. Detoxification in the liver occurs in two phases, where the goal is to convert toxic substances into more water-soluble compounds in order to make them easier to excrete via the kidneys, bowels, and skin. Pathway Liver Support and Detox features a targeted group of nutraceuticals (nutrients & botanical extracts) that help provide the liver with important cofactors for normal, healthy detoxification. It also encourages healthy bile flow, which encourages healthy elimination.  Continue reading “Pathway Liver Support and Detox”
