rhodiola rosea extract e1581448514115Chronic stress is one of the leading root causes of disease. Ongoing stress negatively impacts our health in so many ways. It impairs memory, disturbs sleep, weakens immunity, and can cause weight gain, pain, inflammation, digestive disturbances, anxiety and depression, headaches, hormone imbalances, heart disease and more.

Regularly engaging in relaxing activities, healthy relationships, eating a good diet, exercising, and other self-care habits are all very helpful at combating stress. But, even when we are doing our best to take care of ourselves, sometimes we still need additional support for stress relief and energy support. Taking herbal adaptogens as part of your daily routine can provide restorative support and enhance well-being, strength and vitality.

Adaptogenic herbs have a long history of use in supporting the body during times of increased demands and stress. Adaptogens have the ability to help balance, restore and protect the body. One adaptogenic herb in particular, rhodiola, has also been the subject of a lot of research and has been shown to be both very safe and effective. It has been shown to have an anti-fatigue effect as well as enhance mental performance and concentration. And, new research shows that rhodiola may also provide support for individuals with age-related diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes and heart disease.

Like most adaptogens, rhodiola is best taken daily, especially when begun several weeks prior to a period of known increased demand, and continued throughout the challenging event or activity. However, even when not taken in advance, rhodiola has been shown to provide therapeutic benefit.

Key clinical benefits of rhodiola include:

· Support fat burning response and reduce food cravings
· Increase stamina and endurance
· Enhance mood and relieve anxiety
· Improve mental performance and concentration
· Prevent altitude sickness
· Immune boosting
· Promote healthy sleep patterns
· Alleviate mental fatigue associated with acute or chronic overwork
· Protect the nervous system against oxidative stress
· Balance cortisol and neurotransmitter levels
· Reduce inflammatory markers
· Cardio-protective and anti-tumor properties.

In my practice, I frequently work with individuals experiencing exhaustion and burn out. I find rhodiola to be such a helpful herb for promoting a calm emotional state while also enhancing mental performance and physical stamina. I am thrilled that we now have Rhodiola Rosea Extract in our Pathway product line. This is one of the many new products that we have recently added, as we strive to continually provide you with a wide range of high quality formulations.
