New at Village Green: Virtue SkinFood
Paula Gallagher on
Formerly SkinFood by Rebekah in the Raw, Virtue Skinfood is all about creating quality, nourishing skin care products in small batches. Rebekah started this whole process by trying to find something that would work for her. People noticed her radiant skin and asked what she was using. What followed was Virtue Skinfood, a line of products that uses the wisdom of natural plant medicine and food grade nutrition, so anyone can have a healthier body, inside and out.
Why should you try Virtue SkinFood?
Topically feeding our body nutrient-rich, natural healing skin care products, instead of chemical products that introduce unwanted toxins into our system, is desirable. Virtue SkinFood promises authentic, 100% organic and/or wild-crafted ingredients, and packaging in glass or food grade metal to maximize product purity. The ingredients Rebekah uses are bio-available, food grade, raw and cold-pressed, and from sustainable sources. Her products contain essential oils (no fragrances, dyes or synthetics), and they are not tested on animals.
What we put on our skin is ingested like anything we eat. Skin is the largest organ of the body and since it is porous, it absorbs whatever put on it. A study published in the American Journal of Public Health looked into the skin's absorption rates of chemicals found in drinking water. It showed that the skin absorbs an average of 64% of total contaminant dosage. Other studies found the face to be several times more permeable than broad body surfaces, and an absorption rate of 100% for underarms and genitalia; yet another peer-reviewed study showed 100% absorption for fragrance ingredients.*
Here are five steps to healthy, beautiful skin:
Detox: stimulate, clear pores, improve skin tone.
Clean: slough off dead skin cells, preserve skin's acid mantle.
Tone: repair environmental damage, restore pH.
Nourish: feed skin nutrients and natural retinoic acid.
Repair: heal and protect, slow the aging process
